100th Day Mystery Bag!  Einsteins will be bringing home a 100th Day Mystery Bag for you to complete together.  Use your imagination on this project!  Please return these bags by Monday.  We will play a fun guessing game with these for the 100th Day!!

Overnight Question and Answers!

Q: Are first years attending the overnight activities?

A: YES! The Einstein Overnight and all the activities are for all Einsteins.

Q:  Can parents come to the WONDERtorium?

A:  Yes!  We could not have these rich “Being There Experiences” without the support and help from our wonderful parents!

Q:  Can parents ride the bus to the WONDERtorium?

A:  No.  Unfortunately, due to space limitations parents are not able to ride on the bus.  We recommend that you carpool with other Einstein parents.

Q:  If my Einstein is not able to attend the evening activities (after 3:30), will they be able to attend the WONDERtorium “Being There Experience” during the day?

A:  Yes!  We would like all Einsteins to experience the WONDERtorium.  All Einsteins who are not participating in the evening activities must be picked up by 3:30.  Parents joining us for evening activities must join their Einstein by 4:45.

Q:  What should I bring to spend the night?

A:  You will be finding a special sleeping spot in the Einstein Area.  You may bring pillows, sleeping bags, blankets, air mattresses or any other comfort item you will need to have a peaceful night’s “sleep”. J

Q:  Can one parent come on the trip to WONDERtorium and another come for the evening activities?

A: Yes!

Q:  Can my Einstein’s siblings eat dinner at Mayo?

A:  No.  This unique experience is for you and your Einstein.  Cherish this special time together.

Q:  When is my money due and who do I give it to?

A:  You will give all money to your Einstein’s homebase teacher by February 9.  Our dinner will be catered and the final head count is due February 9.  (We will have vegetarian options available.)

Q: Can you give me an example of an Overnight payment scenario?

A: Johnny’s mom is joining his class at the WONDERtorium and staying for the evening activities.  Johnny’s dad will be joining them for the evening activities only.  Johnny’s family would pay $25.00. ($15.00 for his mom’s admission and dinner/ $10.00 for his dad’s dinner)

Q: I did not receive the Overnight schedule.

A:  We apologize about that typo.  We are still finalizing the exact flow of the evening. We will email an agenda the week of the trip!

Q: Will there be activities on Saturday?

A: There are no activities scheduled for Saturday. We will provide a light breakfast for you and your Einstein to enjoy before you go!

We hope this answers questions you may have!

Armstrong Update 1-29-2017

Dear Armstrong Families,

I apologize for the late letter.  We have a couple notes to share.  I do hope everyone enjoyed the Pancake Breakfast.

February 10th at 2:15 will be our Friendship parties with family. On this day we also pass out friendship cards (a.k.a Valentines).  Please help your child prepare 2 sets of cards. One set is to give to family members-16 plus family teacher. The other set is for the homebase group-30 students plus 1 teacher.  Please put the cards in a bag labeled with your child’s name and with the label “homebase” or “family.” Please do not address the cards to specific children.  Please start this job soon! It takes a while to write your name so many times!  It is fine to attach a piece of candy or a sticker to the cards if you would like.  Please be mindful that some children have peanut allergies and avoid candy with nuts.

No school Friday, February 3, 2017, due to Professional Development.

Armstrong Math Update:

While we are still encouraging students to use their Prodigy accounts at home for extra math practice, we are starting a new math program at school that aligns better with our curriculum and provides more in-depth practice and lessons. The program is called Zearn and just like Prodigy, students are able to log in at home as well! This program allows students to move at their own pace throughout the lessons while allowing their teachers to monitor their progress as they go. The students have received their login information in their math classes, as well as a parent letter with this information. This letter, if it has not come home already, should be coming home with your child today or tomorrow. Please let Mrs. Smith or Ms. Tandy know if you have any questions.

FIFTH GRADE DESTINATION ANNOUNCEMENT:

It has been voted on and decided that the Fifth Grade Trip will be to Dallas Fort Worth, Texas.

OTHER IMPORTANT ARMSTRONG INFORMATION:

- Armstrong Enrichment Classes – During the 2nd quarter, we had time set aside for fun enrichment classes that involved learning beyond the required curriculum. We will be postponing the startup of these classes until the February as we have several Monday’s during January that not all of the staff will be here and able to facilitate with these classes.

OTHER DATES TO REMEMBER:

Please email your child’s homebase teacher if you have any questions or concerns!

Armstrong Update 1-19-2017

Apologies for the late newsletter distribution! Happy weekend everyone!

Dear Armstrong Families,

We don't much news this week.  Important dates are below, along with a 5th grade note of importance.

A problem has arisen regarding some sort of silly puddy, or goo...slime.  We appreciate that students are making products and exploring the free market concept, but it is ending up in carpet and causing distraction in class.  Please do not allow such items to be imported into our school.  It will be exported and to a garbage yard if found by staff.

A coffee maker is still gracing us, but does desire its owners support.

A note from the Einsteins.
Special Request We are in the process of organizing a vehicle fair for the Einsteins. If you know of someone who has a unique vehicle (for example: limo, rock crawler jeep, art car, moving truck, tow truck, semi, etc.), please give their contact information to Miss Mason (masonsu@tulsaschools.org)
