· Last call for Thanksgiving Lunch RSVP forms! It’s almost time for Mayo’s annual Thanksgiving community day! If you are new to Mayo, we typically have 2-3 Community Days per year where the students stay in their family groups for a half a day to a whole day doing community building activities related to a certain topic. Our Thanksgiving Community day will be on Tuesday, November 24th. We will be working on Thanksgiving crafts/activities in our Family groups as well as eating a traditional Thanksgiving lunch together- turkey, mashed potatoes, rolls, and cranberry sauce. You are welcomed and encouraged to join your child(ren) for lunch on that day, RSVP’s are required if you are eating from the cafeteria. Attached is the last minute RSVP form; make sure you turn it in, it’s due tomorrow! Bring it to the office or give it to your child’s homebase teacher. Lunch times vary depending on your child’s family teacher and the schedule is attached along with the RSVP form.
· Uniform Policy Reminders: As the weather gets colder, please remember to continue following the Mayo uniform policy. Boots should not be worn. Plain long sleeved shirts can be worn under short sleeved shirts but they must be Mayo colors: red, white, or royal blue. Girls may wear tights or leggings, but they must be black, navy, red, or white and may not include designs. Students may wear Mayo fleece jackets or Mayo cardigans in class, but all other outerwear must be left in cubbies during instructional times. Please also remember to keep helping your Einstein practice putting on their winter coat – this is still tricky for many of our students!
· Look for this year’s first Scholastic Book order with your child’s Home and Back! Scholastic Reading Clubs are great for you and great for Mayo. You receive quality children’s books at prices well below the book store cost. Mayo receives “bonus points” for every dollar that you spend. We redeem these points for books, DVDs, CDs, and teacher resources to use with your children. These orders will be due to your child’s homebase teacher by November 20th . You may also choose to order online with the code provided on the book order forms. Additional book offerings for all ages are online. Online orders can be made until November 30th.
· Each year, the Einsteins like to complete a service project. This year, we will be sharing the gift of song on December 18th at the Broadmoor Retirement Center and Life Senior Services. Mrs. Regnier’s, Ms. Mason’s and Ms. Starck’s homebases will sing at the Broadmoor Retirement Center. Ms. Hancock’s, Ms. Bond’s and Mrs. Beckman’s (Mrs. Wade) will sing at LIFE Senior Services. Also, on this day we will be donating winter items to each center. Please send a pair of gloves, mittens, socks or a hat to donate. Due to limited space at the centers, parents will not be able to join us. We will have a special performance for our Einstein parents and families, December 18th at 1:20, in the cafeteria. Our songs for the retirement centers and cafeteria performance will be the same as the Second Year Einstein Program but will include all Einsteins.
