Greetings Armstrong Parents!
We are less than one week away from the last day of school! For many of you, this is a bittersweet reality check as you watch your child wrap-up their final days at Mayo and prepare for their next adventure. Whether that adventure is transitioning to Middle School next year, or simply moving from being a 4th Grade Armstrong to a 5th Grade Armstrong, it is a time of reflection, new beginnings and saying goodbye to people who have been a part of your life for many years. Cherish the last few days that you have left of this school year because Tuesday will be here before you know it.
FYIs and Reminders:
- The 5th Grade Armstrongs will be leading Rendezvous on Monday, May 16th at 7:55 in the gym. They will be sharing pictures and stories from their trip as well as celebrating June and July birthdays.
- Since no inclement weather days were used this year, the last day of school will be Tuesday May 17th.
- Returning Mayo Students – If your child is a 4th grade Armstrong and planning on returning to Mayo next year and you haven’t already turned in your form, please stop by the office to fill one out or print the attached one.
Last Day of School – The schedule for the last day of school is attached in the Mayo Times. Please let your child’s homebase teacher know if you have any questions.
Volunteer Breakfast- Each year we like to honor those people who graciously give their time to volunteer at Mayo. If you have volunteered in any way, shape, or form this year you are invited to our Volunteer Breakfast on May 13th at 7:15 A.M. in the Mayo Library. We appreciate all your hard work! This will be followed by the Lifeskills Awards at 8:15 A.M.
5th Grade Promotion – 5th Grade Promotion is TONIGHT at 6:30 PM. We will be holding the promotion in the WILSON AUDITORIUM. We would like the students to be here before 6:15 P.M. so we can get them lined up and ready. The attire for this event is nice clothes i.e. slacks, dresses, skirts, church attire, etc. The students do not need to bring anything, but we do ask that all 5th grade students attend. Following the ceremony, there will be refreshments in the Cafeteria along with the scrapbooks that students have created.
Armstrong Summer Playdates – We will be holding two summer playdates for our incoming 4th and 5th grade Armstrongs over the summer. These playdates are not mandatory but they are a great opportunity for the students to get to know new Mayoans and reconnect with old friends. We would love for you to join us if you can! There will be reminder emails sent out during the summer before each event.
- June 21st – $2 Tuesday Driller’s Game. Join us to watch the game and spend time with friends on the lawn!
- August 4th – Come watch “Inside Out” with the Armstrong teachers and other students at the Guthrie Green!
Also, we are in need of 5th grade siblings to help us out by being involved with the flag salute at the beginning and handing out programs. Thank you to the 4th grade parents who volunteered to help with the reception afterward!
As always, if you have any questions please feel free to email your child’s homebase teacher, myself Mrs. Smith (embryel@tulsaschools.org) or Mrs. Moore (mooreco2@tulsaschools.org). Have a wonderful weekend!
