February 10th at 2:15 will be our Friendship parties with family. On this day we also pass out friendship cards (a.k.aValentines). Please help your child prepare 2 sets of cards.One set is to give to family members-16 plus family teacher. The other set is for the homebase group-23 students plus 2 teachers. Please put the cards in a bag labeled with your child’s name and with the label “homebase” or “family.” Please do not address the cards to specific children. Please start this job soon! It takes a while to write your name so many times! It is fine to attach a piece of candy or a sticker to the cards if you would like. Please be mindful that some children have peanut allergies and avoid candy with nuts.

Roots Word Work: Review of vowel sounds
Science: Habitats
Roots Math: Adding 3 numbers (making tens with adding numbers to 8 and 9) PLEASE work with your Root on counting by ones and 2s to 100. This is an area in need of practice in our 1st Grade classes.
Shoots Math: Place Value up to 1000
Even though we are not sending homework regularly, students should be reading a minimum of 20 minutes each and practicing their addition and subtraction math facts.
