Hello Einstein Families!
Our PTA Workday is this Saturday, August 13th from 10 am -2 pm. We need volunteers to help us get ready for the new school year! Jobs will vary from wiping cubbies to working outside on the Einstein Playground. We will have a job for everyone! If you are able to join us some tools we could use are: a leaf blower, wheelbarrow, shovel, truck for hauling away sand, and tools for weeding. Hope to see you there!
As you know, your child loves to explore and discover! With your help, each child will bring a bit of the excitement they feel when discovering something new into our classroom. Each child, with help from his/her family, is to create one Discovery Bottle (Sensory Bottle). A Discovery Bottle, is a plastic bottle filled with various items related to a specific concept. It can also be a bottle that demonstrates scientific concepts such as waves and tornadoes. Some bottles have “hidden” items for the children to discover. Discovery Bottles encourage the development of observation skills, predictability, scientific concepts, and thinking skills. We would love for each child to make a Discovery Bottle to bring for use in his/her classroom. Many ideas can be found online or by using Pinterest. We hope you discover how much fun creating this Discovery Bottle with your child can be! Thank you for “helping” your child with this assignment. Please send the Discovery Bottle to school during the Mayo Mingle or during the first week of school. These will be kept in school for all the children to discover!
This year the Einsteins will begin the year taking a short Brainbreak. Both First Year (Pre-K) and Second Year (Kindergarten) Einsteins will need to have a Brainbreak Mat. No plastic or vinyl folding brainbreak mats please, these do not fit in cubbies well. Fabric brainbreak mats are available for purchase at Walmart, Target, Babies R Us, Toys R Us and many online retailers.
The Mayo Mingle will be Thursday, August 18th. Einstein families are invited to begin arriving at 5:30. At the Mayo Mingle you and your child will be able to meet their homebase teacher, family teacher, fill out important paperwork and look around the school.
