Hello Edison families!
We had a very informative field study to Reasor's last Friday. Hopefully your child shared some of what they learned with you. The dieticians were super impressed with how much they already knew! :)
We wanted to mention that we have been having lots of hurt feelings during lunch recess. Many children are being exclusive during basketball, soccer, cheer, and four square. At Mayo we pride ourselves on being inclusive. We have talked with the Edisons several times over the last week and would ask you to have a conversation with your child about how they can help create an atmosphere where all Edisons can be included in whichever activities they chose. Thanks for your help with this!
In your Home and Back today you will find your child's MAP Reading and Math scores. There is also a copy of a sheet that we use all year to record testing data on each child. On the back of the score sheet is an explanation about the MAP scores. Please let your child's Homebase teacher know if you have questions. We will be contacting those of you who we will need to meet with regarding setting up a Reading Sufficiency Plan for your child.
We have confirmed our field study to Downtown Tulsa on Tuesday, October 20th. We will be visiting the Woody Guthrie Center, the Tulsa Glassblowing School, the Guthrie Green, and City Councilor Ewing will visit with us before we return to Mayo. If your child will need a sack lunch for this trip, please fill out the attached form and return it via email or hard copy before Friday, October 2nd.
At Mayo, we have Student-led Conferences. Your child will get to lead you through what they have been learning. The dates for the fall conferences will be Monday and Tuesday, October 12th and 13th from 3:15-5:45. Our goal is 100% participation with you and your child. If for some reason you are unable to attend, we will work with you to find an alternative time.
Keep collecting sponsors for the Jog-a-Thon that will happen on Friday, October 9th. We will find out what time the Edisons will be jogging and let you know so you can come support them or jog with them if you are able. This is always a fun-filled day and the money raised will allow us to have a shade structure on the playground.
