Edison Update

Hello!

We had a "hot" start to our week!  I'm sure you heard about the air conditioner issue, but we are comfortable now.  :)  We used our lifeskills and carried on the best we could.
Family started this week.  Be sure to ask your child about it!  We meet every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday at the end of the day.
Remember that Home and Back folders come home every Thursday.  Thank you for removing the information and returning the folder to school ASAP.  We had almost every Edison return theirs this week.  Our goal is 100%!  Our volunteers appreciate it!
Thank you to those who picked up "Apples" from our wish list at Back To School night and have provided the requested items!!  We are overwhelmed by your generosity. :) 
Mayo will be having a Literacy Night next Tuesday, September 15th at 6:30.  The theme is Reading Under the Stars. Families are encouraged to bring a flashlight and blanket/sleeping bag. We'll have S'more snacks, a read aloud, a book raffle, and a sing-a-long.  Please see the attached flyer.
Next week on Monday and Wednesday, we will take the MAP reading and math tests.  We will begin right at the beginning of the school day so please make sure to be on time.  Also, make sure your kiddo has a nice breakfast which includes a good source of protein.  After we receive the MAP reports, we will be sending home information about your child's score and will be setting up meetings with the parents of those students that will be required by the state to be  on a Reading Sufficiency Plan.
We are looking forward to our first field study next Friday, September 18th.  A reminder that we will be going to Reasor's for a tour and to speak to a dietician, then to the park for lunch.  We will return to Mayo for an afternoon yoga class.
At Mayo, we have student-led conferences.  You are invited (and encouraged) to attend either day with your child.  The dates for fall conferences are: Monday, October 12th and Tuesday, October 13th.  We will publish times closer to the date.
