Einstein News
· Library books are due tomorrow. Please have your Einstein return their library books to their homebase teacher.
· PAL starts Monday, September 14th. Your Einstein will need a folder for their PAL work. If you would like to pick out a special folder with your child please bring it to school by Friday, September 11th.If you would like the Einsteins to supply your folder, please let your child’s homebase teacher know. We will send home a folder with your child for them to decorate.
· Measures of Academic Progress (MAP) – In the next 2 weeks, second year Einsteins will complete MAP testing sessions to assess Reading and Mathematics skills. When taking the MAP test, the difficulty of each question is based on how well a student answers all the previous questions. As the student answers correctly, questions become more difficult. If the student answers incorrectly, the questions become easier. Students will repeat the tests two more times during the year to continually assess student progress. We will share these scores with you once they are made available.
· Scholastic iRead- You may have heard your Second Year Einstein talking about a new computer game we are playing at school. This week all second year Einsteins have logged into this district supported Scholastic computer program. It is district policy that all K-2 grade students complete 20 minutes of this program per day. Einsteins may also access this program at home. To login at home and find out more information about iRead please go to the following site: http://teacher.scholastic.com/products/iread/familyportal/Students can login using their student id as their login and password. Look for your Second year Einstein’s student id numbers with next week’s PAL.
· Baby on board! We are excited to announce Mrs. Beckman is expecting a baby girl! Her due date is November 12th. We are thrilled for her and her family!
· Our Einstein overnight will be Friday, October 23rd. We are still in the process of finalizing our plans for this fun day! The location we are looking into visiting would make our arrival time back to Mayo after regular school dismissal. This would affect anyone who rides a daycare bus or school bus. If your child is a daycare bus rider or school bus rider please email your child’s homebase teacher whether or not you can make alternative pick up arrangements for your child on that day.
