All Tulsa Public School students are required to follow a distric wide Student Dress Code. The TPS dress code can be found at http://www.tulsaschools.org/1_Administration/_board_policies/PolicyManual.pdf. Additionally, each school implements its own uniform policy, specific to its school, that is carefully structured to make sure that students are safe, secure and free of distractions during their learning day.
All students are expected to follow the Mayo dress code. Should a student arrive at school out of uniform, the following procedure will be followed:
The student will be sent to the office. If available, a substitute uniform will be loaned to the student. The student will be notified that the uniform is not in compliance with the Mayo dress code. If a student repeatedly violates the dress code, the parent will be called and asked to bring appropriate uniform items to school.
Royal Blue, Red, and White
Mayo Patches may be purchased through the Mayo office, through the PTA, or at the uniform shops.
All uniforms must be properly fitted, clean and in good repair.
All shirts must be tucked in at all times.
Undershirts may be worn under polo shirts, but must be solid navy, red, black or white only with no graphics or writing visible. These must always be tucked in with the unform shirt.
No open toed shoes, boots or plastic shoes. Shoes must be worn at all times.
No jackets, hoodies or outerwear in the classroom with the exception of a navy blue cardigan or Mayo fleecejacket. Please make sure your children are dressed comfortably for the weather with consideration of indoor temperatures as well.
No long pants of any type under skirts, skorts and jumpers. Full-length leggings, shorts or footed tights are permitted (see below).
No hats or bandanas should be worn inside the building. Headbands, ribbons and/or clips are permitted as long as they are not a distraction.
Pants & Shorts: Khaki color, (pants, not jeans). Pleated or flat front. Proper fit waistbands must be fitted at waist. No outside seaming or holes. No capri style pants. Shorts must be appropriate length. Mayo staff always has the right to determine if a length is appropriate. General guidelines are that lengths must be below the fingertips when standing with arms at side and no shorter than three inches above the knee when kneeling. No additional clothing should be seen below the hemline.
Skirts, Skorts and Jumpers: Jumpers, pleated skirts, and skorts are permitted. Jumpers must be “Mayo plaid.” Pleated skirts and skorts may be “Mayo plaid” or khaki (no stonewash). “Mayo plaid” jumpers, skirts, and skorts may be purchased at K Renee’s Uniform Shoppe or C&J’s Uniform Closet. All must be properly fitted at waist and must be an appropriate length (see above). Tights or solid colored shorts should be worn under skirts and jumpers. No additional clothing should be seen below the hemline.
Shirts: Polo style with collar, two or three button plackets. Long or short sleeved. Royal blue, red, or white. Mayo patch stitched over left chest. Girls may also wear K Renee or C&J Uniform style “Peter Pan” blouses without patch with plaid only.
Turtle Necks: Royal blue, red, or white must have Mayo patch stitched over left chest.
Shoes and Socks: Socks must be solid color. Plain, footed style tights are permitted in solid navy, red, black or white only. Shoes must have closed heel and toe. No light up shoes, flip flops, sandals, crocs, jellies, wheelies or boots as these are dangerous in the gym and on the stairs.
Scouts: Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts may wear Scout tops on Scout meeting days. Bottoms should follow Mayo uniform code.
Outerwear: The only outerwear allowed inside the classroom will be a navy cardigan or a Mayo fleece jacket. These may be purchased from C&J Uniforms or K. Renee Uniform Closet. The fleece jackets may be purchased from the Mayo PTA Spirt Store.
The following uniform shops carry Mayo approved clothing, including the Mayo patch:

Please be careful when purchasing uniform items from other retailers (Target, Wal-Mart, Lands End, etc.) to make sure that the items conform to Mayo’s dress code. There are many different khaki items (cargo pants or shorts, capris, etc.) which do NOT conform to our dress code. Royal blue shirts are especially hard to find, but they can be found early in the summer at Academy Sports.
For items not purchased at a uniform shop or from Mayo consignment, Mayo patches are available for you to sew on at home. They may be purchased from PTA or the school office for $1.00.
