Goodall Update 2-23-2017

February 23, 2017
Wow!  It’s already the weekend again!
No spelling test tomorrow for Roots or Shoots.

Student-Led Conferences will be held on March 7th and March 9th.  Mrs. Bunch will be unable to attend the Tuesday conferences.  She will have a necessary surgical procedure on Friday, March 3rd.  She will hopefully return to school on Wednesday, March 8th.  She will be happy to schedule conference meetings to be held after school on Tuesday, March 21st or Wednesday, March 22nd in order to meet with every parent.  IF neither of these days or times works for you, please contact her to schedule another meeting.

Please remember to follow drop off procedures in the morning.  If you are dropping off your child, you must park your car in the lot and walk them in or let them out in the front of the building (this is the drop off zone).  We have seen several parents letting students out in the parking lot and in the bus zone.  This is very dangerous.  Following our procedures helps your child understand why they are important. Procedures keep us safe!! Thank you!

THERE IS STILL lots of sickness going around!  Wash hands often and please keep your child at home if they are running a fever or complaining of nausea.  Please encourage your children to cough and sneeze into their elbow rather than out into the air we all breathe in.  We are doubling down on handwashing and hand sanitizer as well as Clorox-wiping our surfaces regularly.  Nose-picking is a really quick way to introduce germs into your system…so please discourage this at home, and know that we are, also.
Quick Curriculum Update:

Even though we are not sending homework regularly, students should be reading a minimum of 20 minutes each and practicing their addition and subtraction math facts.

This newsletter was also sent in email form.   If you did not receive it, please let your child’s homebase teacher know so that we may add you to our distribution list.

Edison Update 2-3-2017

Dear Edison Families,

We sent home the results from the latest battery L of tests the Edisons endured. There is a letter attached and if you have any questions please let us know.

Reminders:
February 10th at 2:15 will be our Friendship parties with family. On this day we also pass out friendship cards (a.k.a Valentines).  Please help your child prepare 2 sets of cards. One set is to give to family members-16 plus family teacher. The other set is for the homebase group-20 students plus 1 teacher (or 60 if you want to give every Edison student a card).  Please put the cards in a bag labeled with your child’s name and with the label “homebase” or “family.” Please do not address the cards to specific children.  Please start this job soon! It takes a while to write your name so many times!  It is fine to attach a piece of candy or a sticker to the cards if you would like.  Please be mindful that some children have peanut allergies and avoid candy with nuts.

February 25th, join the Mayo PTA, staff and parents for our Annual Mayo Kicks Auction. It is a super fun event that benefits your student’s every day at Mayo.

Dates for your calendar:

February 10             Friendship Parties at 2:15 in Family

In Math, we are still working on Fractions, Multiplication (through 8s), and Graphing.  Please help your child with memorizing their multiplication facts and continue reading each night!
