Happy 3-day weekend! I apologize for the tardiness of this Armstrong update. We have completed the SRI and SMI testing in the Armstrong area and saw some GREAT gains in student’s scores. The hard work that the students have been putting into their math and literacy classes is definitely reflected in those scores. Look for your child’s SRI reports to be coming home in the next few weeks.
Recently there have been many Armstrong students wearing outwear that does not follow Mayo’s school dress code. We often have to ask students multiple times throughout the day to put their non-Mayo jackets in their lockers. Please talk with your child(ren) and remind them of the school dress code.
Per Mayo Dress Code – “Outerwear: The only outerwear allowed inside the classroom will be a navy cardigan or a Mayo fleece jacket. These may be purchased from C&J Uniforms or K. Renee Uniform Closet. The fleece jackets may be purchased from the Mayo PTA Spirt Store.”
OTHER IMPORTANT ARMSTRONG INFORMATION:
- Armstrong Enrichment Classes – Armstrong Enrichment classes will resume soon! Students will be making their class choices next week and class placements will be announced Monday, February 13. Class will start that afternoon and will be each Monday from 2:15-3:00 for the following several weeks.
- Mayo Kicks! Auction 2017 – Mayo PTA’s Annual Auction fundraiser is coming up! Pick up an invite and registration form in the office and join Mayo parents and staff on Saturday, February 25 at the Bond Event Center (608 E. 3rd St.). This is a great event to help raise money for the PTA to help support our school. Tickets are $35 and there are great incentives and group packages available!
- Friendship Parties and Valentine’s Exchange – Friendship parties are next Friday, February 10th from 2:15-3:00 in your child’s Family area. We will also be exchanging Valentine’s in the Armstrong area that morning. BY NO MEANS are you required to buy Valentine’s for every Armstrong. If your child would like to pass out Valentine’s we ask that they bring enough for everyone in their HOMEBASE. The may also pass out Valentine’s to students in other homebases if they wish.
- Strings and Band – Please make sure that all Strings and Band students bring their instruments to school next Tuesday, February 7th for our annual assets audit.
