Greetings Armstrong Parents!

Although we have had our overnight and have finished Biztown we still have an eventful month ahead of us.  The Armstrongs like to keep themselves busy J!  Next on our agenda is Living Museum which the students have been working REALLY hard on.  We are so proud of them and we know they are proud and ready to show off what they have learned.  TOMORROW is the day!  Please read the blurb below for last minute details.  And if you have any questions about anything please e-mail your homebase teacher. We are also looking forward to Colonial Day NEXT Tuesday! So many fun things happening!

LIVING MUSEUM COSTUMES –Your child needs to come to school tomorrow ALREADY IN CONSTUME.  We will have limited time before presentations, which we will be using to set up.  We would like ALL children to be in some sort of period costume and they will be in them all day as we will be presenting most of the day. We appreciate all your help in getting that part ready!

Colonial Day – We are so excited for this day!!  Any help would be greatly appreciated if you can come at any point during the day; you are also encouraged to come in the morning and listen to the Benjamin Franklin impersonator.  He will start our day at 8:15 with all Armstrongs and present until about 9:30.  From there the students will rotate between the teachers in their triads.  There will be 3, hour-long rotations, which will be:  a tea party, colonial games, and quill and ink and will take us right up to family at 2:15.  The students are welcome and encouraged to dress up (they may dress in their Living Museum costumes). Also, if anyone has an old, antique-like teapot they could let us borrow for the day that would be greatly appreciated.  And any volunteers who can help during the tea party rotations would be greatly appreciated. Please e-mail Mrs. Smith if you would like to come on Tuesday and e-mail Mrs. Moore if you have a teapot we can borrow.

Student-led conferences- Student-led conferences are a beloved tradition at Mayo where students get to share what they have been learning. We always strive for 100% participation and we hope everyone can attend. If you won’t be able to come please e-mail your homebase teacher so you can set up a different time to come.

Conferences will be NEXT Monday and Tuesday from 3:15-5:45.  Please don’t come to your child’s area until 3:15 so the teachers have adequate time to set up.  It takes about 30-45 minutes to go through the conferences so please plan appropriately. We hope to see everyone there!

Helmzar Ropes Course- We will be going on this field study the week we get back from Spring Break.  Moore, Hewitt, and Najera will be going Monday, March 21st and Smith, Guss, and Molina will be going Tuesday, March 22nd.  We will be leaving the school at 8:45 and returning at 2:00.  Please make sure your child will have a lunch.  Also, the Helmzar people requested that no parents attend so sadly it will be just us.  Write it on your calendars so you don’t forget to send a lunch the Monday after Spring break!

4th Grade Star Spangled Banner trip- On Wednesday, March 9th, the 4th graders will be traveling to Gilcrease Museum to see a presentation on The Star Spangled Banner and other music from the colonial era.  They will leave around 10 and return in time for lunch.  They won’t need to bring anything or wear anything special and will only need the teachers to accompany them.

IMPORTANT 5TH GRADE INFORMATION:

-Our pancake breakfast was a success! Thanks to everyone who helped out! We raised over $1,700!

-Our next meeting is TONIGHT in Mrs. Moore’s area at 6:30; see you then!

-Our next fundraiser is the book sale which will be taking place next Monday and Tuesday during conferences (from 3:15-6:00).  Kristen Scheer still needs volunteers to sell and help set up; please contact her if you are interested in helping.  Her e-mail is: kristen.scheer@hotmail.com

-We still have 6 people who said they are going, but haven’t paid anything and haven’t contacted Mallory.  Please contact Mallory if you are one of those people! April 1st is the deadline for getting back with her and if you don’t then we won’t be able to include you on our reservations and you won’t be able to come on the trip.

As always, if you have any questions please feel free to email your child’s homebase teacher, myself (mooreco2@tulsaschools.org) or Mrs. Smith (embryel@tulsaschools.org).
