Armstrong Update 8-25-2016

Greetings Armstrong Parents!

We have survived our first week of school! This has been an amazing week getting to know the new-to-the-Armstrong-area students as well as catch up with the now 5th graders (where did the time go?!). We hope that your child has had a wonderful first week of school.

All of the Armstrongs have now completed the Helmzar Challenge Course! It was incredible seeing students overcome their fears with the help and encouragement of their new classmates. Our Mayo MATTERS values of trustworthiness, respect, encouragement and attentive listening were truly used as the student groups worked together to achieve not only individual but group goals as well. Seeing the students work together as they did at Helmzar is an true indicator that this is a fantastic group of kids and that we are surely going to have a GREAT year!

Important Reminders
-Armstrong after school dismissal/pick-up is on the playground at the newly painted map of the United States. Please make sure to sign your child out with their homebase teacher (Mrs. Smith’s homebase will be with Mrs. Lyles). If there is inclement weather, the Armstrongs will wait for pick-up in their area upstairs. We appreciate your patience and flexibility with the new dismissal procedures.

-Cell phones are not allowed in the Armstrong Area. While we understand the need for your child to have a cell phone with them for contact with after school activities, we require all cell phones to be checked in with Mrs. Jennings in the mornings before class. She will keep them safe during the day so they will not become a distraction. Please remind your child(ren) of this policy if they carry a cell phone to school with them. Thank you for your cooperation!

-If you have not turned in your Mayo Way form to the office, please do so ASAP

Back to School Night – Tuesday 8/30
-Please join us for our Back to School night on Tuesday August 30th at 6:30 PM in the Armstrong Area. We will be talking about your child’s class schedule, our yearly concept, our Armstrong homework philosophy as well as other procedures and information about the Armstrong Area. We hope to see you there!
