Armstrong Overnight Info

Greetings Armstrong Parents,

I wanted to send one last reminder email to make sure that all students, parents and teachers are on the same page.

We have heard from several students that they will not be attending the overnight but have not heard from their parents. We have also been contacted by parents about their child not attending and we appreciate your communication. Please understand that this overnight is a part of your child’s curriculum.

If you are planning on not sending your child, please know that they are still expected to be in school on Thursday and Friday. We will have a small assignment to make up for what they are missing on the overnight that they will need to complete. If a student is not attending the overnight and does not come to school on those days they will be counted as an unexcused absence.

Thursday Morning Drop-Off:

The bus will be here at 8AM on Thursday morning. We will be convening in the church parking lot south of Mayo. Your child does not need to go to the Armstrong area.

Attendance – All Armstrongs will check-in with Ms. Tandy
Food and Supplies – Parents who can help load and transport supplies need to see Mr. Najera
Nurse and Meds – Mr. Guss will be taking care of the meds, if you have any additional medication you need to make sure it is checked in with the nurse.
Itinerary and Questions – Please see Mrs. Smith for an itinerary and about any questions you may have

We ask that belongings are loaded onto the bus that your child is assigned (see below for details) and that your child board the bus to wait. If you are joining us on the overnight we ask that you please make sure your child is seated on a bus and that they have had a bathroom break.

What to Pack and T-Shirts:

Tomorrow your child will be bringing home a packing list with the following items: a black trash bag, a white trash bag, a large Ziploc baggie and a small Ziploc baggie.
·         The Black Trash Bag for all sleeping gear.
·         The Large Ziploc Baggie for your child’s sack lunch Thursday
·         The Small Ziploc Baggie for any toiletries.
·         The White Trash Bag is to be used as an emergency poncho.

The packing list will also include what students are expected to wear on Thursday and Friday. Students will not receive their Armstrong T-Shirt until Thursday night.

The name tag on the black trash bag is for easy identification of belongings and bus assignments. Please do not remove this. It also has your child’s bus number written on it.

We strongly discourage parents and students from bringing air mattresses as there is limited space at the church we are staying. It is the same church that the Armstrongs stayed at last year.

Please let your child’s homebase teacher know if you have any last minute questions. Thank you for all you do.

Sincerely,

The Armstrong Team

Mrs. Smith – embryel@tulsaschools.org
Mr. Najera – najerhu@tulsaschools.org
Ms. Tandy – tandyju@tulsaschools.org
