Armstrong Update 11-3-2016

Greetings Armstrong Parents!
Welcome to the glorious month of turkey gobbling called November.

Report Cards-Report cards should have gone home with your student yesterday, November 2nd. Please read the letter attached to your students report card which helps explain the Mayo grading system.

Jog-a-thon- Armstrongs will to participating in the Jog-A-Thon at 10:45 tomorrow November 4th. Jog-A-Thon t-shorts will be handed out tomorrow morning as well. If you would like to cheer on your student you may meet them in the Wilson Parking lot facing 11th Street.

SRI- Armstrongs will be taking their second SRI test of the year sometime next week. (SMI will not be until January).

Election Day- On November 8th Armstrongs will have an Election Day Community Day in the Armstrong area. We will be talking about the voting process, how the Electoral College works, the candidates platforms, and conducting a mock election in the Armstrong Area.

Thanksgiving Community Day/ Picture Day- Thanksgiving Community Day will be November 22nd. We encourage all parents to join us for Thanksgiving lunch. To make lunch run smoothly, we must have an RSVP and payment returned for anyone who will be joining us. That form is attached to this email.

Family Pictures- Family pictures will be on November 22nd, as well as retakes for individual pictures (in uniforms).

Middle School Visits- Over the next few weeks the 5th grade will be visited by both Carver and Edison Middle School. Parents are welcome to attend if they have any questions concerning these two schools.

-Carver Middle School will be visiting with the 5th .grade class on November 18th at 1:45 p.m.
-Edison Middle School will be visiting with the 5th grade class on November 14th at 8:30 a.m.

Book Orders- We will be sending home Scholastic book orders today. Please have them returned to your student's home base teacher by the end of November


FIFTH GRADE:
- November 17th from 6:00-6:30 is a middle school informational meeting at Mayo. There will be a 5th grade meeting immediately afterwards. 
- Thoreau Shadow Day will be Wednesday November 30th. This day is set aside specifically for Mayo students to shadow with a Thoreau 6th grader to see what a day is like. This is a great opportunity to see what Thoreau has to offer and if it is the right fit for you and your child. You must call Thoreau to put your child's name on the schedule for this day. You will need to drop your child off and pick them up from Thoreau on this day as well.
