Goodall Update 1-12-2017

January 12, 2017

Since we had a snow day last Friday, TOMORROW IS SPIRIT DAY!!!  Your Goodall should wear Mayo uniform bottoms, but may choose to wear a Spirit Shirt (Goodall overnight shirt, Family t-shirt, or Spirit shirt from the Spirit Shop)!  If not, they may choose a regular uniform shirt.  J

We have two new faces in the Goodall area.  Miss Anna Wheeler is Mrs. Sowle’s student teacher for the next 6 weeks.  She is a senior at TU.  Our other student teacher is Ms. NickieMangrum.  She is working with Mrs. Bunch and she is a student at NSU.  We are so happy they are here with us!  Please say hi and help them feel welcome at Mayo!

MAP Testing has begun.  These are the math and reading tests that students take on the computer.  Please encourage your students to do their personal best.  This will tell us how much progress they have made since the beginning of the year.  We will communicate their results as soon as all have completed testing.

Second quarter Reports of Student Progress (Report Cards)will be coming home today.  Remember, Mayo Students receive grades of “S” (Satisfactory) or “N” (Needs to Improve), and we mark their progress toward mastery of standards.  Please look for these to come home Wednesday or Thursday.  They do not need to be returned, but teachers often request conferences on these forms.
Please watch for an information sheet regarding the Mayo Foundation’s annual Trivia Night.  This is a super fun event for adults only.  The date for the event is Saturday, January 28th.  The Mayo Foundation is instrumental in providing Mayo teachers with opportunities that would not otherwise be available and large capital purchases for the school.
