Goodall Update 9-17-2015

September 17, 2015

Homework- Thank you to all our Goodalls who returned homework folders by Tuesday!  They go home again this Thursday, due back next Tuesday.  Parents may assist students in completing/understanding the homework, but we need for Goodalls to write it themselves.  They need the practice, and we need to see their progress.  If you have any questions, please contact one of the Goodall teachers.

MAP testing- All Goodalls are required to take the MAP (Measures of Academic Progress) test in reading and math.  This is a computer administered test and will be taking place between September 9th and September 22ndPlease talk to your child about how important it is to take their time and to focus on the test.

Reminder!  Our field trip is THIS FRIDAYSeptember 18thWe will be traveling to Skateland at 11th and Sheridan.  We will leave Mayo at 9:30 and return at 1:30.  If we haven’t received notice by Thursday that you need a sack lunch from the cafeteria, we assume you are sending a lunch.  Lunch and balance activities will at Braden Park from 11:45 to 1:00.  Goodalls should wear a red uniform shirt.  If they do not have a red one, they may wear another Mayo uniform shirt.  Students may wear jeans, or other uniform “bottoms”.  They should have their shoe size written on the back of their hand.  Parents who are chaperoning must have their volunteer form completed and on file in the office before the trip.  Chaperones also need to pay their own admission and skate rental.  We can’t wait!

The Jog-a-Thon will be a fall event this year!  Mark your calendars for Friday, October 9 for  Miles for Mayo-Made in the Shade!  We will be raising funds to construct a shade shelter on the Mayo playground. Your child's pledge envelope will be in this week's Home and Back.  Look for the blue letter that is inside of the pledge envelope.  It has lots of important information about the event!  We hope you will help your child secure lots of pledges so that we can make our dream of a shady place on the playground come true this year!
