Goodall Update: 9-3-15

Thank you to everyone that attended Back to School night. We hope it was informative.  If you were unable to attend, please contact a Goodall teacher and we will give you a copy of the Powerpoint presentation. If you ever have any questions, please don’t hesitate to ask. We are here to help!

Our first field study….. will be on September 18th and we will be traveling to Skateland at 11th and Sheridan.  On this field study, we will be experiencing the balance and motion aspect of roller-skating.  We will leave Mayo at 9:00 am and arrive at Skateland at 9:30 am.  We will skate until 11:30 amand then travel to Braden Park for a picnic lunch and outdoor activities.  We will arrive back at Mayo around 1:30.  If you decide to take your child from Braden Park, after the field study, please find their homebase teacher and sign them out.  We will send more information as the date draws closer.

Shoots High Frequency Words: everywhere, work, machines, live, woman, move, world  

Roots Literacy Group: Tessa’s Toys

Roots Word Work: short a and short i words

Roots High Frequency Words: the, that, do, on, way, in, and, take, up

All Literacy Groups: C.A.R.E. letters, sounds, and signs

Year-Long Theme: Citizenship-How to be a productive part of the community.

Science:  Balance and Motion- Ask your child about the “Pencil Trick” and also to describe a “stable position”.

Roots Math:  Ways to Make the # of the Day (Monday is 11.)/Review of numbers 0-5

Shoots Math: Relating Addition and Subtraction/Place Value

We realize that some of you have not been receiving emails from the Goodall area.  We are working on getting all correct emails into our distribution list.  We will be sending a hard copy of the newsletter home for the next few weeks to make sure that important information is being received.  Thank you for your patience.
