Attn Goodall parents: CogAT

                                                                                      January 2016

Dear Parents,

Tulsa Public Schools will give the CogAT (Cognitive Abilities Test) to all second graders beginning January12   and will be completed January 29. The CogATmeasures learned reasoning and problem-solving skills in three different areas: verbal, quantitative, and non-verbal. The three sections of the assessment are given over several days. It is extremely important that your child is at school every day and on time during thisperiod of time.

The CogAT is helpful in not only identifying gifted and talented students but test results will also give teachers and parents valuable strategies to build on students’ STRENGTHS and INTERVENTION strategies to address weaknesses in specific content areas.

Again to help our student do their best we ask your help.

➢ Please make sure students are at school and ON TIME while the CogAT is being administered.
➢ Well rested students will lead to more accurate data to better meet your child’s needs and less frustration for your child. Please make sure your child gets plenty of sleep during this time.

Parents will receive a letter with scores and explanations of those scores once the assessments have been scored and returned to the district.

Thank you for your help and consideration.
