Edison Update 1-14-16

Hello Edison Families!

We had a great trip Monday to Crystal Bridges Museum!  As part of the exhibit, Picturing the Americas, we were able to make connections to our year long theme and social studies curriculum.  We have been able to take advantage of several generous grants this year that are making our Edison budget stretch further.  We are very thankful for these grants as they allow our students more amazing being-there experiences.

We are tentatively planning on a trip to Will Rogers Museum in Claremore, and to the Port of Catoosa in early March.  Once we have firmed up the date, we will let you know.  This will be our last field study before our BIG overnight trip April 21st and 22nd.  This trip is a favorite and ties directly to our year long curriculum.  As a result, we want every Edison to attend.  You (one adult per child) are welcome and encouraged to attend as well.  We will provide all of the details closer to the date.

Today in your child's Home and Back, will be their second quarter Report of Student Progress.  A letter explaining the details of how we mark the reports is attached to it.  We hope you will take time to discuss the report with your child and celebrate successes and make some goals for the next half of the year. If you have any questions, please let us know.

The Edison students have been working with our art teacher, Mr. Wills and our librarian, Mrs. Wilson on an Artbot project.  The Edisons would like to invite you to come find out what an Artbot is and to view their creations on Monday, January 25 from 2:10-2:50.  We hope you can swing by during that time.  We know they are excited to show off their projects!

The 5th Annual Mayo Trivia Night is Saturday, January 23!  There is a registration form in this week's Home and Back.  Trivia Night sells out, so act fast!  Trivia Night is hosted by the Mayo Foundation and they use the funds they raise on this to finance the annual Mayo staff retreat.  We hope you will get a team of six together to participate in this fun adult event at the Campbell Hotel!

Reminder: School is not in session tomorrow or Monday.

Reminder: during dismissal, if you pick your student up, you should always enter through the North cafeteria door and exit through the South cafeteria door.  This allows for the safety of everyone and is not meant to inconvenience anyone.  Thanks for your cooperation and consideration.
