Edison Update: 10-1-2015

Dear Edison Families,

We hope you enjoying this cooler weather!  As a reminder, we try to go outside each day.  Please remember to send your child with a jacket on cooler days.  Don't forget to put their name inside the jacket.

Tomorrow is a TPS Early Release Day and a Mayo Spirit Day.  School will dismiss at 1:00.  Your child may wear any Mayo spirit shirt or instructional area t-shirt with their regular uniform bottoms.

Mr. Wills would like the kids to tie dye their Edison t-shirts this Monday but we need some volunteers to make this happen!  If you are available to help Monday, from 1:30-3:00, please let me know by responding to this email.  Thank you!

We have confirmed our field study to Downtown Tulsa on Tuesday, October 20th.  We will be visiting the Woody Guthrie Center, the Tulsa Glassblowing School, the Guthrie Green, and City Councilor Ewing will visit with us before we return to Mayo.  If your child will need a sack lunch for this trip, please fill out the attached form and return it via email or hard copy before Friday, October 2nd.(that's tomorrow!)

At Mayo, we have Student-led Conferences.  Your child will get to lead you through what they have been learning.  The dates for the fall conferences will beMonday and Tuesday, October 12th and 13th from 3:15-5:45.  Our goal is 100% participation with you and your child.  If for some reason you are unable to attend, we will work with you to find an alternative time.

One more week until Miles for Mayo-Made in the Shade!  Our jog-a-thon is next Friday, October 9.  The Edison will jog from 9:30-10:15.  We would love to have parents come cheer us on!  Mayo students may wear athletic pants or shorts  (weather and school appropriate) for the day.  Everyone will get a new Miles for Mayo shirt!  Please make sure your child has the correct footwear for jogging. All pledge envelopes should be returned to school on the day of the event. Any direct donations that you have already collected will be removed and tallied,  the envelope will be marked with the number of laps run, and the envelope will be returned for additional donations. Thanks for your support!

Please find an attached flyer regarding the Mayo year-long reading challenge.  The kids are very excited about this and we are looking forward to celebrating some Edison million word readers this year!

Also attached is the latest Mayo Times Newsletter.

School pictures will be taken next Tuesday.  This is a regular uniform day.
