Einstein Update 10-22

Einstein News

October 22, 2015

·         Important Information about Parking for the Overnight! Due to tomorrowbeing TU’s homecoming we have specific requests regarding parking. During the school day you are free to park in the Mayo lot, church lot and Wilson parking lot. All cars must be moved from the church’s lot upon our return from the pumpkin patch. These spots will be sold as game parking. If you park in the Wilson lot, please park as close to 11th and Delaware as possible. Cars may be left in this lot overnight, but you will need to stop by the Mayo office to sign in your car. Look for a clipboard on the counter in the office to sign. During the evening activities we encourage you to park in the Mayo lot or on Columbia Ave (beginning at 3:45 p.m.) in front of the school. We will have someone in the Mayo lot directing traffic to additional parking spots available just for the overnight. Please do not park in an unmarked in the Mayo lot unless directed by the parking lot volunteer.

·         We will be leaving for the pumpkin patch at 8:00 a.m. We recommend having your Einstein to Mayo before 7:45 a.m. so we can take attendance, make sure everyone uses the bathroom and load the buses to depart.

·         The Einstein overnight and all of its activities are for Einsteins and their parents/grown-up(s) only. Please make other arrangements for all siblings if you are attending the pumpkin patch trip and the evening activities.

·         The fifth graders are hosting a Fall Carnival next Friday!  Please see the attached flyer for all the important information regarding his event.

·         The following is a very important note from Mr. Joslin regarding admission to Mayo for next year.

The application window for PK students opens on Monday, November 9.  Applications should be available online at that date.  Parents should visit http://www.tulsaschools.org/enroll for additional information.  Incoming PK students of current Mayo students receive sibling preference.  However, you MUST still complete the online application by the deadline on  Friday, January 15.  Existing parents will need to obtain a letter from Mr. Joslin before submitting the application.  You should also email or call Mrs. Jennings in the office and let her know the name of the sibling applying. (jenniga@tulsaschools.org)  The lottery will be held on Wednesday, February 4 at Thoreau at 6:00PM.  You do not have to be present.  Notification letters are scheduled to be sent out Thursday, February 11.

New parents must attend a tour of Mayo and obtain a letter signed by Mr. Joslin, which indicates that the parent attended the tour.  These tours are for adults only.  Please call the office (918-925-1500) to reserve a spot at one of the following tours:

Wednesday, November 18 @ 8:30AM

Thursday, December 3 @ 8:30AM

Thursday, December 10 @ 8:30AM

Wednesday, December 16 @ 8:30AM

Wednesday, January 6 @ 8:30AM

Thursday, January 14 @ 6:00PM

We will be conducting separate tours for parents who are interested in any available slots for K-5 for next school year.  The window for these applications is Monday, April 4 – Friday, April 22.  We have not yet scheduled those tours.

·         Since the Einsteins are leaving for their Field Study first thing tomorrow morning, there will not be a Celebrations assembly for awarding Miles for Mayo fund raising prizes.  So, you have some more time to collect pledges and get your envelopes back to school.  The new deadline for returning envelopes is Monday, October 26th.  We will award prizes on Friday, October 30th.  There are extra pledge envelopes in the office, or you can make your own.  Checks should be payable to Mayo Foundation.  We still have a way to go to make our goal.
